Eliza + Jory's Western Take On a SUn valley Classic
When I first met Eliza and Jory, I knew they were my kind of people. They are both passionate about the outdoors, easy going, and have an eye for heartfelt details. Working with both of their families was an absolute pleasure, and I hope that the photos reflected how incredible the weekend was as well as how much hard work went into every second. I had the honor of meeting Eliza and Jory earlier in 2025 when we did engagement photos at Eliza's family home on the banks of Bigwood River north of Ketchum. We talked about skiing, flyfishing, and our passion for the Wood River Valley and instantly connected. It was so fun collaborating with them and their vendor team leading up to the wedding.
I would be remiss if I didn't give a huge shoutout to Eliza's mother, Heidi, who was involved in every detail of the wedding, using her artistic skills to make every detail absolutely remarkable. She made the delicate illustrations on the invitation suites, and designed the table linens that were hand stamped in India.
Speaking of details, the weekend started off at their family Cabin near Mackay, Idaho. Eliza's family are all passionate flyfishers, and the location of this spot is truly one of a kind on a world-class fishing creek. It was a small intimate dinner with just family and wedding party, catered by close family friends. One of my favorite things about this dinner was the place settings – Eliza and Jory and their families had collected heart rocks for everyone to keep and all the guests were greeted with a handwritten note from the couple to show how thankful they were for making their journey to the mountains. A stunning sunset rounded out the intimate dinner scene.
On night two, the entire wedding party ventured to a private barn near Hailey for a proper Idaho western evening. Garden Bars SV served up their signature floral cocktails (yes – they put flowers in the ice spheres) and acoustic music from Kevin Ware added to the overall chill vibe. Many tearful speeches were shared, with one in particular from Eliza's grandfather making for some very misty eyes. It was a perfect fall evening in Idaho and was a great way to meet guests and mingle before the big wedding day!
The wedding day started early, with the gals getting ready at Eliza's family's home and the boys next door. Eliza’s wedding dress was a combination of her mother’s Vera Wang gown and a custom new bodice. Eliza did her own makeup like an absolute pro and her and Jory had the cutest first look in the backyard. We then headed to Trail Creek Cabin for the gorgeous ceremony, which concluded with Eliza and Jory making their getaway in Eliza’s late grandmothers baby blue VW Bug. The reception was decorated with potted plants and unique prints – credits to Eliza’s mom and Floret Design Studio as well as AlpenJoy Events for the planning. The vibe was intimate and down to earth, but also elevated in a classic Sun Valley way. The party did not stop until late into the evening, with a live band and DJ to round out the evening. I will definitely not be forgetting this one anytime soon and feel so honored to have been included.
